Good deal, people are saying it has less performance for plex transcoding, but otherwise it's a great device. Tempting.

Why do all NASes advertise "Diskless" when there is no NAS on the market from the beginning of time that came/comes with disks?

wife will lose her marbles if another package comes from dell. She still recovering from the impulse buy of the cricut explore air 2 I got from amazon. It's still sitting in the box. I so need to update my DS1511+ and this would be perfect. For people that looking build their own nases with the synology OS, take a look at xpenology.com

I think some buffalo units also had discs populated.

Perhaps a carryover from Enterprise class NASes that do NOT come diskless...

Tempting my 1512+ is getting long in the tooth, but still works fine for what I need it to do which is just to serve files... I have better/more appropriate separate server hardware for everything else.
The main thing that sucks is that 1512+ doesn't get any new DSM starting with 7... but since I don't even expose it directly to the internet and basically use it as a glorified samba machine it doesn't really matter.
Telling myself it's not worth the cost just for new and shiny.... going to hold out if possible for 10GbE models (and a 10GbE home network).

Just a reminder to AMEX Business Gold cardholders to check if they have the 10% off Dell purchases offer available to them. I’m not sure if it works with the Rakuten offer, but some people reported both worked together (using Rakuten link) with the AMEX Business Platinum offer last year.

It could be worth a try if you’re buying it anyways.

The Rakuten Dell 15% cashback doesn't have the coupon $15OFF$199+ included. But it is included as part of "Dell Technologies for Work" but that is only 2%. Will the coupone still stack with the 15% cashback?

Beware. I bought this on the first day with the 15% off activated... the unit already shipped and shows up in my Rakuten shopping trips, but I didn't get the cashback alert yet. Will return it to Dell if I don't get the 15%. The 15% might only be valid for Dell-branded products...

I've been eyeing this for a while, does the 10% new customer code stack?

Code "XXXXXX" cannot be combined with the already applied coupon.
Doesn't stack.
