[Dell] UHD Screen 28" 3840x2160

I'm shopping for my employer for new screens and it seems that UHD screens are very seriously worth considering.
This dell seems like a good deal

also this seiki (been discussed before)

I think given the price these are interesting options, there are problems that they don't display at 60hz @ 4k but for a lot of people that seems acceptable.

Anyways, I thinks by time christmas comes around we'll be see deals on these as low as 300$

NOTE: original link was US site - http://accessories.dell.com/sna/product ... noteSearch

@ 499 -

less good

For my purposes I might need to buy something now - I'd rather wait but I think I'd rather buy these than 1920x1080 - its also just for programmers too..

Search for 2560x1440 monitors.

Get the Samsung uhd instead which does 60hz for like $50 more

You have the option of 1440 in this size as well, if you wanted higher then 1080 / 1200.

Had the monitor for a grand total of 2 hours before it went back in the box and back to dell. Garbage.

Input lag was so terrible it was unusable. Felt like a remote desktop connection.
Colors were complete garbage (was sitting right beside a 2408WFP for comparison)
Would randomly flicker hard once every 2-3 minutes.

Edit: Ended up getting a refurbished HP ZR2740W for $300 and haven't looked back since.

I have this at work. Don't bother...as others have mentioned, it's 30 Hz at 4K resolution. Even the ability to daisy-chain another DisplayPort monitor doesn't make it worth it.

What about the seiki at 399$?- buying 1080p at this point to me is a waste. For me it doesn't make sense to go anything less than UHD now or later... are any of you programmers with the Seiki?

I've tried out the Samsung UHD for a few days before returning it.
Fonts are way too small (without proper scaling), and you'll find yourself squinting most of the times just to properly read the text. I wouldn't really recommend using this monitor for programming.
Definitely takes some time to get used to, and I just gave up. 1440p is the sweet spot IMHO.

Unless you are rendering 4k content you do not need a 4k monitor right now plain and simple. It takes too much GPU power right now for 4K at a reasonable cost.

As others mentioned go for a really good calibrated 1440p monitor
