Am I missing something here ?
I know the Mobo is kife but doing research on pricing I found:
Picking the cheapest mobo, ram, SSD, HDD, and PSU I still get $1900+ on PC part picker https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/KGq4Gq

Is this a good deal for this price range ?

Plus the RTX 3070 is sold out everywhere ?
Is this a buy ?

I thought this was 1899.99 before tax during boxing week..

But no liquid cooling option on g5 makes it a concern. The PSU is also propertary

Then it has remain the same price for few weeks now. Just watch out for the PSU... Won't be easily able to replace that apparently as it isn't a standard size one like the Alienware models.

Motherboard proprietary ? PSU proprietary ?

Dont make this mistake. You will learn the hard way.

It's not great, seems like the going rate: https://www.newegg.ca/abs-ali462/p/N82E ... -_-Product

The killer in the Dell is the 500w PSU, not because it's 500w is undersized for a 3070, but because it's proprietary. Dell always seems to have something proprietary that makes it a royal pain to upgrade.

The PC you spec'd is better, faster ram, better PSU, etc.

To be honest.. I got a really good deal on Alienware r10. But I won't buy another Alienware prebuilt.

If you can't build your own, sure.. But just to note, the Alienware r10, 3700x with rtx3070 was at 1999.99 few weeks ago so this G5 is the only thing left around this range now. But the PSU is just too weak.

Even though I picked liquid cooling, the cooling is just so bad that your performance is hindered from temp limits and throttles. Just can't compare to custom build which has good airflow if you choose any standard atx case.

It was fun to get a rtx 3080, but at same time.. If I would redo my decision, I would go custom built.

Just my own learning experience though with finally trying the Alienware brand which I seemed to have adored as a young person back then but never could had afforded one.

A friend of mine was thinking of throwing in the towel of trying to find a 3070 or 3080 and I saw that deal a few weeks ago and thought it might be a decent option. Good to know that is still had its issues.

It is actually much easier to get stock for prebuilt companies. It's a major complaint for pc gamers at the moment that every single prebuilt manufacturer has stock of these cards but they are impossible to buy from component retailers...

Is the RTX 3070 that much better than the 5700 XT?
Alienware stacking coupons has Ryzen 7 3700 x with 5700 XT, 3200mhs 16gb and 1tb NVME for $2200 all in

Is the PSU on this model 12V only?

They are supposed to be more efficient than standard psus, but it will make finding replacement parts if anything breaks harder.

Why are you considering this?
The i7 10700KF should be faster than the 3700x in almost every metric. The Nvidia gpu blows the AMD one out of the water in every metric (including performance per $)

It only in the 5th gen, (Zen3) that AMD flips the tables and outperforms Intel in nearly every metric.

You do get pcie4.0 with the AMD built, but I don't think it justifies a higher price than the Intel.

Do not buy a RX5xxx series gpu, that is the older AMD line from a year or two ago, the new line is the RX 6xxx series the performance difference is substantial.
