This 7390 DE is the 2020 version so the SSD is upgradeable

OP should add that this is the 2020 model as to not confuse people with the non upgradeable 2019 model
Good clarification and suggestion. I did not do much homework on it.

I guess the "developer" here means "without Windows OS" onlyFace With Tears Of Joy

I've been waiting for the new XPS 13 with 11th gen intel tiger lake. Any word on when it will be released?

I have my 13' system for photography. It's 90% of the time connected to external monitors.
The other 10% is when I need a small 13" size system to carry everywhere. This size is awesome for me.

I already owned a 15" but it was too big to me. A 14" is great if you have to work on it (no monitors) >30% of the time.

It's an online-only item and it seems that it's OOS. Had it for like 1-2 weeks already and it's been pretty good. Can't go wrong with a 4700u, 512gb ssd and 16gb of ram. The XPS just looks really awesome... I also have an XPS L521x which is super heavy!

i'm tempted to say next February as Dell tends to keep refresh for their next year model but we've seen some good discount right now. maybe we're lucky and getting a refresh right before the holidays?

Specs say M.2 nvme which means it's swappable, RAM has been soldered since 2015 when XPS 13 got an infinity display.

If you want swappable RAM then the XPS 15/17 has it.

For those lucky enough to have signed up for the Amex Platinum 10% back on dell purchases there's that discount as well.

I ran the number for my case, using BC tax rates:

Regular Price $1,649.00
Sale discount -$350.00
Code: Dell Email Sign Up -$129.90
Code: SAVE100SBAFFFY21Q3 -$100.00

Sub-total $1,069.10
Tax (12%, BC GST+PST) $128.29

Total with BC Tax $1,197.39

Rakuten -$85.53
Amex platinum 10% cash back -$119.74

Adjusted total with cashback $992.12
Effective pre-tax price (removing 12% BC tax GST+PST) $885.83
Effective discount vs. regular price 46.3%

That's what my first thought was, it should have at least 16GB for a developer laptop. Docker / VSCode takes up a lot of RAM :(

Damn. Just ordered a Surface laptop, was going back and forth between these two devices. I find it very annoying that on both devices ram is capped at 8gigs. Honestly, the i5 is good enough for me but I would like 16 gigs of ram for a bit of future-proofing and for those odd days when my browser has 30 tabs open :), however when I looked it was nearly $2200 for devices with 16 gigs of ram because the CPU and HD got upgraded first, neither of which I really cared about.

Wow, I have an even older and uglier XPS which has been sleeping somewhere in the basementFace With Tears Of Joy. Btw what is the model number of your Zenbook?

I don't think this one belongs to "work" group. Both coupons and 8% rebate work only for the "work" products. But you can try at least and correct me if I am wrong.
