Weird how the i5-4300u cost more than the i7 version you've got. Too late for me :|
That's because that i7 was on "clearance". John mentioned systems go on clearance based on age so these situations happen frequently.

I know, that's why I was saying I was late ;) Weird in a sense where it shouldn't cost more for that CPU but I got the point about the clearance.

There were ~250 laptops, 5 pages at 50/pg, before the sale. Now there's only ~100 left. A pretty successful sale. Plus the sale price of a E7440 before tax for a Grade B is now > than what I paid all in.

Latitude is Dell's business line, right?

Inspiron consumer level stuff is absolutely horrible.

Yep, Latitude is business. Super easy to access most of the field replaceable components. E6440 can even boot from mSATA for those wanting to have dual drives installed. Can swap out the optical drive to add another as well. No RAID 0 though, Dell seems to have blocked that with later BIOS updates.

I think you can with the E6540 too, right?

Not sure it's worth the hassle though, as I have a 480GB SSD in it right now and am far from running out of space.

I bought one of the E6440's from the last sale and have been very satisfied with it. The hard drive is drop dead easy to replace: 2 screws and it's out. For adding/replacing RAM, it's only 3 screws and the entire bottom cover can be removed. In contrast, I have an older Vostro 2420 and I damn near have to disassemble/remove everything including the keyboard if I want to replace RAM.

rgilld, not technically correct. If the order has not been fully processed, we can sometimes catch them, but once a unit has been processed and sent to the warehouse, we cannot stop it., even if it has not shipped. Sales like this we are filling up skids of product and loading the trailer(s) all day - there is no way we could go back and unload a truck and tear apart skids looking for a single carton. The site does state you cannot cancel an order once placed, but we will certainly do what we can, and will accommodate if possible.
