Desktop sale at school - worth it?

My school is selling used Dell OptiPlex 790 Core i7 2600 - 8 GB - 1 Tb desktops for $80.

Is it worth it? Considering the heavy usage and all.

That's not a bad price despite the usage.
Similar refurbed ones go for at least twice the price if not more.
The thing that would be worst for wear is the hard drive and withthe savings you can easily buy an SSD drive and put it in.

YES!
Take it, clean it (the worst part), add an SSD and a decent GPU (gtx 1050ti when prices go back to normal). Total capable machine!

A can of compressed air or a vacuum cleaner set to blow with an outside space isn't too bad. You might want to consider replacing the keyboard however as all sorts of (*^*& drops into the spaces between the keys.

I'd buy as many as I could at that price.

With that set-up, what games (and settings) could I run?

You might want to pick up a second unit for parts if it is only $80. Typically, PSU is the first thing to go on desktop. Not sure this particular Dell using standard ATX or SFX PSU.

For $80 I would buy as many as possible. I'm still running my i7-2700k and have no plans of upgrading anytime soon.
