For all the RFD coffee lovers: to celebrate the launch of its new blend 'Daydream', Detour Coffee Roasters (based out of Hamilton, Ontario) is offering 15% off your entire order with them. This deal seems to happen monthly now so keep that in mind as you order.
They now offer an 'essentials' pack with 3 bags for $49 (-15%) for anyone looking for a sampler pack.

Beans are available in packages of 300g or 2.27kg, starting at about $17.50. They are only sold as whole beans so you will need to grind them yourself.
  • 15% off order code: DAYDREAM -Offer Valid until Wednesday, July 29th at 11:59est
  • 10% off subscription order code: NOMOREBADCUPS
  • Codes are not stackable, works on merch as well
  • Free shipping over $30 anywhere in Canada, shipped by FedEx

Yes this is not as cheap as RFD staples Kicking Horse or Zavida, this is simply an alternative for anyone looking to try another local roaster.
Happy brewing!

Is Detour any good?

Been exploring different roasters... so far I’ve gotta say some of my favourite beans have come from Transcend. Have an order of Bows & Arrows and Phil & Sebastian en route to try next. Have also tried Dispatch (during their 50% off promo) which was ok - good at that price point tho.

To add to this, a lot of these third wave roasters are batting in a different league than Kicking Horse (owned by Lavazza) or Zavida. There is a very noticeable difference in taste and quality, which in my opinion is worth the price premium. You’re getting premium freshly roasted beans (usually less than a week or two old) vs mass produced coffee that was roasted who knows how long ago.

I'd say Detour is a tad better than Dispatch, but if we compare regular prices, Pilot wins by quite a long shot for me. I tried both Dispatch and Detour on 50% off, which at that price it was fine, but at regular price, or even at just 15% off, I'd just get Pilot.

I’ve had Pilot at their coffee shops, will try this next.
