Too bad, I'll always have fond memories of Dinotown even if it's been almost 20 years since I last visited.

I think they were affiliated with the Flintstones at one point but my memory is a bit hazy on that one.

This thread brings back memories, even though I've never been there, just to Bridal Falls. Haven't been to Bridal Falls in ages, feels very very far from Vancouver now...

Also reminds me of Castle Fun Park along the highway 1, I remember having a lot of fun playing those coin op games there. Is that place still open? again, feels very far from Vancouver... Anyone been there recently or as a kid?

Yeah, that place is still open, and it's a lot closer than Dinotown, lol.. Dinotown is 'Only 30 min east of abbostsford..' it takes about 1hr to get to abbostsford from Coquitlam! That's a pretty long drive lol.

I thought Dinotown was a restaurant (similar to Rainforest Cafe) until I read the poster and the memories started to come back.

Anyone know why it is closing? I'll try to go with my niece and nephew before it closes for good.

My guess would be too much land and not enough customers.

My parents and grandparents used to take me there all the time when it was the Flintstone's park. There used to be another Flintstone park near Kelowna that closed in the 90's.

I'll use the coupon and take my nephews there before it closes.

From wikipedia:
Several small tourist attractions and/or camper parks have been built in honor of Bedrock. The most famous and oldest is Bedrock City in Custer, South Dakota which opened in 1966 and is still around. There is also a Bedrock City in Valle, Arizona which opened in 1972. Two Canadian Bedrock Cities, both in British Columbia, were closed and/or demolished in the late 1990s. One in Kelowna, British Columbia was closed in 1998, demolished and changed into the Landmark Grand 10 multiplex theatre & a strip mall. The second one located in Chilliwack, British Columbia was closed in 1994 and was changed into a dinosaur theme park called "Dinotown".

The reason for the closure of the two Canadian theme parks was due to licensing. "Throughout the '80s and '90s the licensing for any intellectual properties of Hanna-Barbera changed hands numerous times before they ended up in the possession of Time Warner"
What?!

The Kelowna one was demolished?!
Oh the memories...

Calaway Park in Calgary was also associated with the Flintstones when it first opened in the early 80s.

Good times
