Here's a warm deal from DirectCanada for a solid, reliable SSD, the Intel 530 Series 480GB SSD (OEM), for $272.32 with free shipping:

The deal isn't hot enough for me but I thought I'd share it anyways, as it isn't bad. I think its lowest price point was during Black Friday for $239.99 from NCIX.

Retail box Intel 730 480GB was $195 at the end of November, which makes this a pass I think even though it requires a time machine.

Wasn't that for $220 + shipping?

Free trial to Newegg Premier deleted shipping, and there was the pay with Visa Checkout promo at the same time that knocked another $25 off.

Quick browse performance data between this Intel and the OCZ Arc 100 240GB that I bought at Canada Computers for $99.99 is about the same. Looks like I did fine from buying the OCZ yesterday which was deal of the day.

Yes, this is a good deal compare to the retail box which is selling at $318.98.

I haven't bought any HW lately. It looks like DirectCanada is still playing aggressively on the price.

I'm thinking of buying a Crucial BX100 500GB. Any suggestions?

Thanks, op.

I picked up the same OCZ yesterday. Wasn't advertised and was just roaming around when I came across it. First SSD I've purchased so even if its crappy I'll be impressed haha.

I'll let you know in a few days once mine arrives and gets installed. I picked up one of the 250GB Transcend units a week ago on sale, but then I realized that my Steam folder on its own was 400+ GB :( ...so grabbed a BX100 500GB to go as a secondary SSD.

The Intel 530 is still very fast. The 530 also has extremely low idle power consumption. Excellent for laptops, unlike the Intel 730.
