Discorage cats from pooping in garden

Neighbour has bunch of outdoor cars. There has been some minor digging in our backyard next to a young jap maple. Today saw one of them took a dump in a shallow dug out pit there, didn't bury it back surprisingly. Anyway, one off time is fine but can't let that becomes a habit.

Anything I can do to discorage the cats away?

You can try cayenne pepper in those areas, but you’ll need to keep reapplying. Or a motion sensitive sprinkler.

Thanks. Don't have cayenne in hand. But threw some used ground coffee there, just cause i have a whole big bucket of it. Nowhere as strong but at least some smell. See if helps.

Those ssscat air canister things are a bit pricey but work great. Keeps the robins from nesting on my deck too.
