A high-quality Montreal roaster. Last time I tried them with this promo I got some very tasty coffee, so willing to try again at this price. I paid $27.30 for 2 bags with delivery which is quite decent

What coffee would you recommend for making espresso drinks? Using Breville Barista Express BES870XL if that matters at all, double basket, 18 g coffee, 1:2 ratio, 25-30 s extraction from first espresso drop.

Probably pretty decent coffee. Won't touch roasters that charge 454g prices 330-340g bags. $27.30 for 2 333g bags is $18/lb, which is pretty average for decent coffee. No deal here unless this is exceptional coffee.

They no longer have the single-origin I got from them a year ago. This time I went with La Sierrita and Iyenga based purely on tasting notes. Right now I don't make espresso, just pour over with Technivorm KB, Aeropress, and other full immersion methods. My long-time go-to favourite is Sidama Ardi from Social coffee because I'm a total sucker for blueberries in the morning.

One of the best I've tried (and I tried well over 20 local roasters in Canada) and they have an excellent reputation in Montreal. But again, I only tried once and they no longer have single-origin I got a year ago. Will see if the quality is consistent.

On my 4th bag from their 50% subscription back in March, and I would not order from them again. Their coffee just doesn't seem as high quality as the other 3rd wave roasters I've tried (Monogram, Pilot, Detour, 49th, Quietly). I have read that they source their beans from cheaper co-ops, and while I have no proof, the fact is it does taste like cheaper quality beans, but with fancy packaging and marketing. The beans are noticeably darker than other roasters, so maybe it was just a mistake with the higher volumes being roasted with that sale I suppose.

I spend a good amount of time tweaking recipes on how to make each bag somewhat tasty. Every bag has had a burnt taste, so I usually use a lower extraction method to make a just okay cup, and to hide those off-flavours.
