Do you have COVID-19?

We have alot of ppl on here.
I wonder if anyone has gotten it or know anyone that has had/have it.?
From what I read, the symptoms are wide ranging.
Some odd ones are loosing smell/taste., skin is painful to touch especially the chest area, blue lips/face, etc

I live near a busy street in Vancouver and I've been hearing more sirens lately. That's my only antidote.

No testing in Canada to ordinary people.

And you could contract it AFTER testing, so what's the point?

I’ve come to the conclusion that Canada has done right by testing

No point testing everyone ... testing is not cheap
And would be a huge expense against our medical system that would be UNNECESSARY

Test 37.5 million Cdns just to discover a small fraction TEST POSITIVE

What a waste of taxpayer money

Better to do as we do now ... you have multiple symptoms
You travelled afar ... and have symptoms
You been in close contact with others that have TESTED POSITIVE for Covid 19
Then you get tested

Now look at the US answer to testing

You pay you get tested
You or your insurance gets billed
Whether you test POSITIVE or NEGATIVE
Reportedly it’s over $ 1000 a test
You test POSITIVE ... you will be tested several times over the course of the illness, until you are NEGATIVE multiple times in a row
You test NEGATIVE ... then what
You are still exposed to everyone else unless you are VOLUNTARY SELF ISOLATING

So nothing changes
You could be NEGATIVE today
And POSITIVE tomorrow
How often do you plan to get tested ... just for the sake of knowing
What’s what AT THAT MINUTE
And how many times at $ 1000+ a pop are you or your insurance gonna pay ?

Makes far more sense to do the testing when there is actually a reason to do so
Turn a suspected fever & cough
Into YES you have COVID
Or NO it’s a head cold

Honestly as Cdns with publicly funded healthcare for all
We got better things to be spending our money on
Even when it comes to Covid Care for those that TRULY NEED IT
Than blanket testing for naught

How bad is the situation in the hospitals right now, are they turning away family/ visitors?

In the hardest hit places people are getting hospitalized, dying and then going straight into the ground or cremated without ever seeing anyone.

My aunt came back from a cruise from Dubai and she felt symptoms and was sick for almost a week. Finally went to get tested and two days ago was tested positive. She is on Tylenol and is feeling better slowly, coughing a bit less and fever down.

She has very little appetite but I told her she must consume nutrition to fight it off so she has been drinking ensure and eating some stuff.

My parent have been dropping supplies and food at her front door since she came back almost 2 weeks ago.

Surprisingly none of her travel companions/friends are currently showing symptoms or are sick.

They are all in their late 60's

considering we are only testing people we are pretty certain has it or are essential workers i'm thinking our numbers are vastly under reported.
you dont' get a test even if you have the symptoms just told to self isolate.

i get the cost part but it makes me wonder if our infection rate isn't a lot higher.
look at germany, they did more tests, lots of infections, very few casualties relative to it.
