Do you use Amazon Prime?

My yearly membership is ending soon and I'm not sure if it's worth the $100 to renew. I watch the occasional show or movie but have Netflix, Disney +, and AppleTV as well. I order several times a month from Amazon based on the deals I see here. What are your thoughts?

It all depends on your personal usage of the service and if you think it's worth your while to subscribe to. For me, I get a ton of value out of it between free same day/next day shipping, Prime Video and Prime Photos. The cost would probably need to go up by another 50-60% before I'd consider getting rid of it.

Depending on the deals, I may subscribe for Prime Day, and also for the holiday period from late Nov-Dec.

Nope.
I've had about 8 one-month free trials over the years, and never found what I got out of them to be worth paying to continue. One time I forgot to cancel and was billed $7 for the next month. That still stings, it's $7 I'll never get back again.

Given what it costs to ship stuff these days, I find paying for Prime worth it at least when it comes to buying stuff on Amazon.

Worth the $49/year IMO for the shipping alone. If I had to pay $99, I'd think more carefully.

Our farm is 20 minutes south of the Calgary city limits. Driving to the city to buy something has a very real cost and it's nice to be able to order a single item without paying a delivery fee. I'm not sure if I'd keep my Prime membership if we lived in town.

If you don't care about the video and music streaming not worth it imo. You could always sign up for a 30 day free trial around Prime day this summer. And pay for a single month after if you see something you like from them.

I lived 10+ years without it, but took it last year to watch The Rings Of Power. I must say it's convenient to be able to buy items less than 35$, sometimes even a 5$ item, and have it the next day on my porch...

Used to, but not anymore. Prices have gone up, junk goods have flooded in and finding a good product at an acceptable price has become hard. Can't trust reviews anymore either. On the low end people are drop-shopping AliExpress items at 2-3x the price, which end up being of poor quality. Their retail was supposed to be like 1/3rd or 1/2 at which price the quality may have been ok, but not at Amazon prices. The only other option then is to then look for brand name items. Most of which often sell for a premium compared to other retailers, due to third party sellers.

I subscribed only once for free during the Prime Day in the past. While it is nice to have, I won't pay a penny for any of the feature since it is not a necessity to me at all. With Prime, you will buy more. Prime is actually leading you to spend more rather than saving more. I won't bother the deal if I cannot find anything to buy to get free shipping.

Today I can get more than $200 (regular price) free items if I have Prime since the sellers makes a silly mistake on double discount during LD. However, I still decided not joining the Prime. Without Prime, I can always control my spending habit. With Prime, it is more easy to lose the control.

My husband and I do a lot of online shopping, so it worth having the membership for saving shipping fee (just one item less than $35) and we can get it the next day or so.
Return is easy on Amazon too, and the Prime movie is a bonus.

I guess if you are not a heavy online shopper, then it may not be a good idea to have it.
Or just use the free trial when it's available to you, and cancel it before Amazon charges your card.

You know they will refund if you asked right?

I've accidentally had family members subscribe to premium channels and been billed for MONTHS before I caught it, and a 5 minute call caused them to revert the Paramount and Starz subscription for months.

I've even had my kid download and pay for BOSS BABY 2 and was billed $34 or $40 for one digital movie - also immediately refunded.

The customer service is what you're paying for.
