I don't change filter type between seasons, I buy a case of quality filters off Amazon and change them accordingly.

I tend to stick with MERV 8, don't care about brand.

Merv 8 or lower and use the same brand all year long.

Any brand will work you should be more concerned with Merv rating, if its too high it will restrict to much air and will cause issues.

Merv 8, all year long, change every 3 months when weather is warm. Every 2 months in cold weather. I just buy Garrison pack-2 for $10.

I have been told to use MERV 11 for winter months and MERV 8 for summer months. Am I doing it wrong?

That's fine, you will get more air flow with MERV 8 which is a good thing with the AC running. Check with your furnace manufacturer for your MERV rating. MERV11 is too high for some furnaces, mine recommends MERV 8 for my model. I use MERV 6 to get better air flow because of the layout of my ducts.

I use a MERV 8 from May - September
I use a MERV 10 from October to April

I think you have the right idea.

Nope. Batch of Filtrete 'MPR 1000' filters that I change monthly. Costs around $15 per month typically and I don't have to think much about it. 1st of every month or close to it.

Merv-8 year round for me. Garrison brand.

My furnace has differernt air flow settings for A/C and Heat. It also has air flow monitor to ramp up the fan for more restrictive filters which will end up using more electrictity.
