Does the ASUS RT-AC66U router support WPA3?

I'm considering buying the ASUS RT-AC66U router but the online manual shows support for WPA2 but not WPA3. Does anyone know if there are firmware updates that added support for WPA3?

Not now and likely not ever. From the link above,
Note: Currently, only AX series provides WPA3-Personal features, and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands support WPA3-Personal option.

you need new hardware for wpa3. Not even with tomato firmware will you get wp3 with the older routers. Newest ones might bring support

Thanks for the info. I'll probably look for an AX router then.

Ask yourself: Do you really need that level of security?
I'd be surprised if the answer was yes.

almost no wireless devices have wpa3. There is no real hurry to upgrade the router for wpa3 right now

Do your devices support WPA3? Everything must support it in order for it to work.
