Capital One has a reputation for being very hard-assed about CL increases. In fact I can't remember every hearing about anyone getting an increase beyond the original limit they were granted.

One of the reasons I'm glad the Costco business is going to CIBC is I've been stuck at the same CL on my Costco MC forever.

In my experience in the past. I had applied and received a $300 card, inquired about an increase they told me I couldn't have it increased so I just used the card for little things and then pay them off every month. A year later I unexpectedly received a letter saying congratulations I earned an increase. I went from $300 to $3300. I have since canceled the card, made no sense to keep the card since I had gotten better cards. I guess it's random qirh them when you will receive an increase.

I have had a positive experience with every credit card issuer I've ever dealt with with the exception of CapitalOne. Back in the day, when the Aspire Travel World Elite MC offered a full 2% return towards any travel with a renewal bonus worth $100 I applied for it twice (couple months apart) and got declined both times. Shortly after the first decline I applied for a RBC Visa Infinite Avion and got approved instantly with I can't remember anymore since its been 10 years but it was over a $10k CL. After the 2nd application to C1 that got declined, I applied for a CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite and guess what.. instantly approved with I recall a $15k CL! Couple more months down the road, after the Aspire Cash World MC became 1.5% with no annual fee, I applied for that and got approved.... with a $2,000 CL.

After over a year of using the card and paying the balance in full every month I asked for an increase and they said "no, no increases upon request. We will mail you a letter if you are selected for an increase" well I never got a letter and tried calling again. No dice. I ended up cancelling when BMO made the World Elite MC a full 2% return for travel and annual fee waived with premium plan account from BMO in 2015. Those were the days... I did end up getting rid of that card too when they devalued in early 2018. Getting off topic here but can't believe what's happening to that card when it becomes the Ascend in May of this year lol

Got mine in 2012-ish. 15K CL right off the bat. Looted them in around 2018 and asked for an increase in CL back then . No go, but still looting atm.

I have a card with Capital One that started with a limit of $1000 back in 2014, and now has a limit of $8250. The limit increase offers are random and don't have any reason behind them I can see.
