I was at my local Dollarama on hwy 7 in Markham and saw this vent mount for $4. Figured forn4 bucks I'd try it out.

How does that work out for ya? I got mine from eBay, a bit over $1 a pop, they work well on my Camry vent but not so much the Corolla's.

It's not bad, actually. I have a Nexus 6p which is quite large and the mount held it securely in my Jeep. A buck on eBay is a better deal, but $4 isn't bad. It comes with 4 metal plates (2 round small, 2 larger rectangular) and one magnet

I think the eBay unit comes with a round and a rectangular magnets but I don't need more than that. If the mount fits the vent it works very well but when I put it on my Corolla's vent the whole thing just hangs, facing the floor. $1 is cheap but again that was a couple of years ago and you will have to wait for a few weeks for it to arrive. $4 is not too bad at all.

I've seen these posted on RFD before. Do you slip the magnet between the phone and the case, or does it come one side with a sticker?

I keep thinking these things would put stress on the plastic vents and block the heat/AC

I slipped the plate between my case and phone, although it does have a peal sticker on the plate to stick it to your phone if you go caseless

I paid $2.50 on eBay last year.

I put the metal between my case and phone rather than sticking it to the outside of the case. Has not fallen off. Phone gets warm if I have the heat on, even though it sits at the top of the vent.

Comes with 2 magnets with stickers. One is a rectangle and the other is a circle. I bought one on the weekend. Fits my vents pretty good as I purchased one from aukey a few months back for $10.00...

Not bad, close enough to china price if you want one and dont want to wait.
Gonna look for one for the wifes grand caravan.
It does rely on your vents construction, so not for everyone. My car has vent vanes thin enough and dont tilt down with weight on it.

looks just like the Aukey or Spigen ones too. I have the Spigen, but I got them on sale for 2 for 11$ way back. This is a good price!

I've been using a Kenu Airframe for my 6P for a while. It's worked well but I've always considered switching to one of these magnetic ones. For $4, I might as well finally grab one if I can find a Dollarama that carries it.

Thanks!

Dumb question, would placing magnets so close to the phone have any impact on the phone's operation /battery life,...?

Can't believe i spent $11 for an Aukey one last year.

These things work well but obviously block your vent when you have the heater going causing you to re-route the heat elsewhere (floor/dash).

Phone can get pretty hot if left blocking the vent.

Work OK with vehicles that have horizontal vent louvres (like photo) not so much with vertical ones. Sag down. Good price. Paid much more for my Spigen model.

I would love to use magnetic mounts but then it would interfere with my wireless charging. Ah why can't I have both...

Thanks OP. I would have bought one but I am using the other cheaper Dollarama vent holder which is also pretty good

I tried slipping it between my rubber case and iphone 6 and it falls off when you hit a big bump....I used the sticker and put it on the back and it holds the phone very well....doesn't look as nice but it is a solid hold.

Im using a cheap ebay one like the one in the OP.

Best feature is how easy and fast it is to put on and off the holder
