[Dollarama] Dollarama -$4 Tech1 USB-C/USB fast charger for home. Available in black & white

Another pleasant surprise find at Dollarama. $4 Tech1 charger for home use. Has USB-C port and full size USB port too.

NOTE - Only the USB-C port supports fast charging. Tested with Essential PH-1 and Samsung Galaxy A70

The full size USB port doesn't seem to support fast charging.

I got mine at 2340 Dundas St West today. In Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This is an amazing price. I will go to Dollarama tomorrow and look for it. This costs 3 times more on Ali

5V * 3.1A = ~18W. I assume that's for the entire unit. Still at that price point, not too shabby.

Does Dollarama (or another cheap source) also sell USB-C to USB-C cables?

I had seen these but typically I wasn't sure on the electrical stuff from cheap sources.. just for a safety thing. Is Tech1 a decent brand? Had jumped on the Belkin one right away for example

I'm the same, I refuse to use anything outside of well known brand if not OEM

The price is great if it is a proper USB C charger. That said there are a lot of chargers and cables that do not properly implement the USB C standard which can cause permanent physical damage to your devices. A prime example is how Google engineer, Benson Leung, did such damage to one of his devices while testing cables and chargers in the early USB C days.

My thinking is it isn't worth the risk with something like this.

try baseus or ugreen on AliExpress, ~3.5-4.5 CAD incl. tax and shipping... these two brands sell very high quality cables.

Will this charge a Nintendo Switch while you play it? That machine sure is picky about it's chargers.

Can vouch for baseus. Very good cables. I even bought a high capacity battery pack for my old iPhone 6 Plus. Very impressed and also their screen protector too. It’s a shame they don’t sell on amazon.

I just picked one up. Tried charging my Samsung S10+ and notice that the USB Adapter does not fast charge. Thumbs down for me.
