[Dollarama] $5/2 pack Sylvania Smart+ Full Color Bluetooth A19 Dimmable

Seems like an OK price for $5.
Sylvania Smart+ Full Color Bluetooth Bulbs
A19 Dimmable 2-pack

Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home

Newer versions also shipped with Apple HomeKit support. These bulbs will be detected by iOS Home app (after firmware update in Sylvania app) but since they were packaged without HomeKit, they don’t include the HomeKit code to actually add them.

The packaging is a little plain, so I think these were probably originally sold as part of larger kits.

Thread Summary
Bluetooth-only interface. Bulb must be in Bluetooth range of a smart speaker hub or your phone to use smart remote control, but mesh range extension works if you have multiple bulbs.

Be aware that Dollarama is selling two versions, the colour bulbs and the monochrome warm-white bulbs. The package is nearly identical and the price is the same $5. Colour version is mostly sold out now, so remaining stock is likely to be the warm-white bulbs. Read the package label carefully to know which you are buying. Aside from the ability to adjust colour, the two versions otherwise look and work the same.

Works with Google Home, including 1st gen GH and Mini, but command recognition is slightly erratic.

Works well with Alexa on Amazon Echo speakers, but 1st and 2nd gen Dot are not compatible. Flex and 3rd-gen Dot ok. It is possible to control the bulbs from Home Assistant via Alexa.

You can use them with the Sylvania app on your phone with Bluetooth.

One firmware must be chosen during setup and update with the Sylvania app, for Alexa (the factory default), Google, Apple HomeKit, or Sylvania Smart+ app. Unfortunately this package does not include the device code needed for Homekit support.

Purchased these and was a bit of a pain figuring out how to set them up in the SYLVANIA Smart Home app… but once I did, they’re working beautifully. Great purchase for $5.

Happened to pick some of these up earlier this week - they work well, especially for the price.

These are pretty good. Pairing is pretty easy with Amazon Echo. However it's bit tricky with their app. Works well with Echo/Alexa

Bought them a few weeks ago to do Christmas colours on my outside lights. No problems, happy with them for the price!

So no real automation without an ios/android device running their app within the BT range of the lights 24/7, very constraining but for the price I guess one can find a scenario or two that fits.
OP thanked.

I go these a few weeks ago. Put them outside and making them red/green for Christmas. A bit of a pain to initially get setup but once I got it figured out the other bulbs were easy. Never got them working with HomeKit even though they were detected, there was no HomeKit code that I found for them.

Good value for $5.

So I assume you can't integrate these to work with Google home?

I got these a few weeks ago. They work with homekit/google home but they are absolute garbage DO NOT BUY. They only do what you want like 25% of the time and there is no discernable reason why. They frustrated me so much i got rid of them within a day.

Every time I add a new “smart” home device (bulb, plug, thermostat, etc…), it’s been a WiFi device. I set up one of these bulbs with my Google Home hub and it works fine (no Sylvania account - Google controls it through Bluetooth). Will use this for a week or so and see its stability. No issues so far. If it’s good enough, I might switch the whole home over and free up my WiFi to reduce congestion.
