[Dollarama] Dollarama Deals (Special Edition: Betty Crocker)

As requested by the RFD community, I'll be doing up some special edition posts. This is the second of its type.

This is the collection of Betty Crocker items at Dollarama. Yes, these are "made-for-Dollarama" items. I have found some Betty Crocker items to be of decent quality. This would be good to discuss and comment on which products work best for you!

These were taken at multiple Dollarama locations in BC.

Previous Special Edition: Toys is here: dollarama-dollarama-deals-special-editi ... #p35689092

These threads will include products in specific categories (ie. Seasonal, gardening, toys, etc) and events (ie. Christmas, Halloween, etc).

Previous regular Dollarama Deals here: dollarama-dollarama-deals-feb-22-2022-2 ... #p35765412

One thing that I would avoid in particular is the grater (and possible can opener); for soft stuff should be OK, but harder cheeses or some harder veggies, grip isn't good and the handle is a bit flimsy (mine broke)

Their spatulas are the only ones I buy, solid silicone and dishwasher safe

I don't think the pan is PFOA & PTFE Free so I would avoid that.

the betty crocker stuff is definitely hit or miss
the large tongs are fine although a bit bulky and stiff if you have small hands (they have small tongs as well)
the whisk tends to separate from the handle over time, but nothing that can't be fixed with crazy glue
and the mixing cups are decent for what they are
thanks op

+1

Those Dollarama products they make that are all a single solid piece of silicone on the outside are fantastic.
We bought a couple of the spatulas and a large mixing spoon many years ago from Dollarama and they are still just as good as when we bought them.

Betty Crocker also makes a different silicone spatula where only the head is silicone and the handle is plastic. This is junk. Bought this one from Dollarama back then alongside the other ones and within a year the adhesive keeping the silicone head attached to the handle fell apart.

I really like the Betty Crocker Cheese paper and the Parchment (the pre sized stuff). I haven't used the cast iron bakers yet , anyone have any serving suggestions or reliable recipes for them. I picked them up on a whim with no clear intention for their use.
Thanks ,
RJ

I've used the silicone tongs (2nd pic), they melted rather easily.

These Betty Crocker kitchen utensils are the most UN-ergonomic things you can find. I've never felt anything more uncomfortable/bulky/etc. I would never use these things.

Had good luck with the silicone spatulas, the oven trays and the aluminum foil.

I agree, the parchment paper is very good although I find the size doesn't work well with my pans. It's always much bigger than my pan.

Dont most use small thongs if there small?

But i agree with that.
Can opener sucks.
grater sucks.
stay away from the pans.

The spatulas are great for the price and hold up very well ive been using a half dozen of them for a few years now and just recently the tip of the handle on one broke off somehow and then the bottom face of another one cracked but they have been used alot.

Avoid the non stick fry pans at all costs. It is NOT non stick at all. I tossed mine after 3 uses. You can easily get a decent t-fal for less than $30 on sale from Canadian Tire or Walmart.

The baking pans are OK. I've used the loaf pan and the round cake pan and they're pretty nonstick for baking. Just don't use metal on them.

DO NOT buy the can opener. It opens 2-3 cans and dies. Go to walmart and spend $7-8 for an american brand with life time warranty(not for the warranty. For the quality). You will not regret it.

I bought many dollarama ones thinking it cant be that bad and maybe i got a bad one.

Will keep spatulas in mind for next time since people seem to find them effective. I personally use the smaller sized pizza pan and have had no problems so far.

I buy the measuring cup often to help families learn about food/sugary beverage portions. Can't say I used it for hot food/liquid though!
