[Dollarama] Eaget 16gb MicroSD $4

Spotted at Dollarama in Peterborough.

Probably alright for non-critical data because I've never heard of this brand before.

And? Doesn't mean it won't die on you in 6 months

If it's made to sell at Dollarama for $4, they sure as hell aren't investing a ton into its quality.

200 employees? That's peanuts by Chinese standards.

The $3 kingston is better of course for 25% cheaper.

But if you're desperate for a card and you know you might lose it or lose data, like a security camera, it's $4

Remember they won't let you exchange/return even if it's faulty out of the box.

Eaget, or "忆捷" in Chinese.
Have seen their memory cards/ flash drives in the market for years. Based on reviews in Chinese market, seems their products are usable, but don't expect any performance though.

When I toured some factories in Shenzhen about a decade ago they had rooms of people with testing machines that checked various quality control aspects of SDCARDS, memory, SSDs, even batteries: they checked capacity, speed, r/w errors, corrupt bits, etc.

They sorted the results into piles.

They sold every pile.

Only worth it if you need a card on the spot, and there is a Faillarama close by. Otherwise there are dozen of better options.

I have been using one of these Eaget sdcards in the Wyze for my gameroom since 05/10/2019 and never had any problems with continuous recording or playback even up till today. Since it's only for my gameroom which is not critical otherwise my other ones I have either "higher performance" Samsung or Kingston ones. I also didn't buy these from Dollarama specifically to use in my cameras as I had other projects like led displays in all my pinball machines which required 10-12mb of free space for the coloured rom file. So I went with what was readily available and least expensive option which was this Eaget from Dollarama. My friend who builds and sells these led pinball displays found a guy off kijiji who was selling 512mb sdcards for $1/each but made a deal for 500 off him for $0.50/each. So I grabbed a few of those off him and that's how I ended up with a few spare Eaget sdcards. I also have one of these Eaget cards in my Octopi 3d print server for the past year and no problems either. Would I use these on vacation in my GoPro... probably not.

this place doesnt do returns or exchanges. Sure it's $4, but you could use this towards something else purchased at a more reputable place.

Yo, Amy Schumer, I made that joke the first time this thread came up!

But seriously OP, this has MicroSD has come up before, as has the EAGET 16GB USB stick. I have purchased both, and have been using the MicroSD in a Wyze cam for a while now. No issues yet. The USB unfortunately, while it somewhat works, seems to be as slow as molasses and has crapped out on me a few times. I now only use it to transfer files between PC's when I'm not in a rush.

The takeaway for me was simply don't trust important data to this brand.
c'mon get happy!

Could use a bigger SD card for music in my car. Will give it a shot unless there's something on amazon that's even more convenient. Thanks op

Not trying to establish policy but I've exchanged a faulty toy before (on the same day though), could be YMMV.

I definitely wouldn't buy this card though.
