As much as I have made efforts to convert my home to LED lighting, the reality is that several of the light fixtures that I have are single bulb fixtures that are best served by 100W incandescent light bulbs. I have tried to get by with 60W LED equivalents (the most commonly available LED bulb in the $1.00-$1.50 range), but these bulbs often offer poor illumination vs the 100W incandescent they replaced in a single bulb fixture (not enough lumens). I was pleasantly surprised today to find that my local Dollarama (hwy 27 / 7, Vaughan) had a bunch of Philips 3000K " bright white, dimmable 1600 lumen bulbs (16W) for sale at $4 each. You sometimes get deals on the 2700K or 5000K "100W equivalent" bulbs, but usually you pay a premium for the 3000K LED bulbs. I think $4 each is a solid price. YMMV as I haven't visited other Dollarama stores, but please do post here if you find other locations with inventory.

I'll have to hit up my local Dollarama. Need a handful of brighter bulbs for exactly the same reason you do - replaced my incandescents in the basement and garage with CFL bulbs a few years back, but they're just not as good. Some nice bright 100W equivalent LEDs would definitely do the trick

Wouldn't the 3 pack @ costco for $8 be a better deal?
Way better deal. Dollarama stock is occasionally subpar. Costco at least isn't garbage.

Bright white is also horrible - such a sterile atmosphere.

I think most people refer to 5000k "day light" as the sterile hospital-like colour temperature. 3000K is the middling one that is most commonly preferred while 2700K is often lamented as being too yellow.

Just a FYI, these are the larger A21 size bulbs not the regular A19 size. Meaning they are bigger in size and shape than the typical 60W incandescent.

What brand is Costco selling at 3 x 100W 3000K equivalent for $8? Usually the low cost LED bulbs are either 2700K of 5000K. I did one of my rooms with 8 Costco "Luminus" brand bulbs and 5 of 8 are dead now in under 4 years. In another room, 2 of my "Ecosmart" brand bulbs have died in under 5 years. All of my 20+ Philips LED bulbs are still running strong. YMMV of course, but my Philips LED experience so far is great!

Yes a very good point. I tried putting 2 of these in a 2 light covered fixture, but because they are a larger (taller) size, the cover could not be placed back on the unit. But they have installed well in my single light fixtures and larger sized multi-bulb fixtures.

How does the Feit Electric 100w compare to the Philips 100w?
I've come to conclusion that cheap doesn't mean good. (The ecosmarts I bought from HD already died within a year)

I can vouch for the Feit ones.

I bought a bunch from Lowes a while back and none have died yet (even under complete enclosure).
but they are the 60w variants - I did pick up a pack of the 100w at Costco about a year ago as well .. all ok still.

Upvoted! Thanks for that. I rarely visit Costco and was unaware of this option. $2.66 per bulb for dimmable 3000K LEDs is fantastic. My mother-in-law practically lives at Costco so I'm gonna have her grab that 3 pack for me as I really want to try a pair in my 2 outlet enclosed fixture. Thanks also for your feedback on Feit brand reliability. I think longevity makes a big difference in LED bulb selection, so I'm always happy to hear that a particular brand is actually living up to the advertised lifespan. Ecosmart and Luminus LED brands have been big disappointments for me thus far. Philips is my current favourite, but Feit is now going to get a seat at the table. Cheers!

None of my Philips bulbs has failed yet. Philips is my go-to brand. The flat slimstyle bulbs are scarce now. Too odd a shape but they are great. Luminus is garbage and Feit.. well I've never heard of this name.

My Costco Luminous are also failing at high rates. Philips and Sylvalnia have done the best for me (Feit is pretty good but had some failures) but i am wary of Philips from Dollarama, i suspect they are probably second tier grade.
