Hi,

I’ve been looking for a cheap knife block for a while and spotted this at my local Dollarama.

Looks very sturdy for $4.

That's going to be fun finding the exact sized knives that'll fit in this.

You found this difficult?
We’re you the kid that sucked at shape sorting toys?

Were you?
Assuming the front row is a regular sized steak knife, the slots behind it are going to hold an 8" knife tops.
I don't know about you, but I have a 10" Chefs, 11" Bread, and 12" Slicer.
Even if I were to try to cram my 8" Chefs in there, look at the size of the slot. The blade is 20% bigger than the handle.

So unless you have some knives designed for kids to go along with those missorted blocks of yours, this block is going to be roughly 85% useless.

I have that one, but in brushed silver. I really like it, the only problem is that your knife will scratch the surface because of metal on metal. One way I fix it is to use a fine grit sand paper once a year to refinish the surface.

If I was getting a new magnetic knife holder, I would get a wood finish one.

(NOTE: Ships out of the US)

I was cheap and bought this:
https://www.webstaurantstore.com/24-bla ... TH24P.html

Since you mentioned wood:
https://www.webstaurantstore.com/mercer ... 731AC.html

Amazon has a few, but you're looking at $50 for fulfilled.

For complete disclosure, I'm switching to this style:
https://www.webstaurantstore.com/7-slot ... 3KR99.html

Better on the blades as pointed out above.
But if you twist the blades off, it's not really a huge issue.
I'm probably gonna combine both solutions since I have some gnarly cleavers that won't fit.

I still stand by my previous statement.

Search amazon for IM-MGN5-CB

I bought it and have been very impressed considering it was sub $20. The knives that come with it are junk but the holder is sturdy with a strong magnet.
