DOMINICAN REP. Drone Use? Permissions etc?

Who recently has taking their drone to the DR? What’s the customs experience like? I’m a amateur photographer so like to have a eye in the sky at times. Headed there with the wife in a months time.

I usually travel with my DJI spark as it’s the smallest DJi I own. I’m transport Canada licensed and the drone itself is Transport Canada & FAA registered.

I have reached out to there civil Authority there for requirements/permission. Anywhere I go I usually do my due diligence before hand with local authorities.

Anyways let me know if you have any first hand insight.

Thx

FYI - For any future 🧳 travelers you must get proper permission to bring in your drone by the IDAC Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civíl even recreational otherwise it could be seized by customs or local authorities.

Simplified - You will need to fill out a form they enter info their system, it’s processed in 3-4 weeks you will be given a portal link with a ticket number to check for the document once processed.

Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civíl

Things on the form you will need to provide
Passport No. or Other ID
Pilot Certificate No.
Aircraft Registration No.
Type of Drone, range of radio etc
Where you are staying/residence
Where you plan to fly (map and gps coordinates)
Reason for flights, flight times between xxxx to xxxx
Drone insurance if you have (most won’t)
Sign off civil liability waiver
Etc etc

I had all those things readily avail so was not an issue.

Reach out to email above, their responses were fast.
