Drinking water?

I had work excavator done in my back yard in September 2019. This June my well water was ruined. Undrinkable. I mean terrible. Full of iron and stinks. Been there 40 years. Same well. Wonder if my house insurance would cover new well or water treatment system.

Not sure if insurance would help, I doubt it though.
It is not unusual for a well to "go bad" after years of use. The aquifer or ground water can change. The depth may be insufficient after years of use. I know of people having to drill new wells after 10 or so years due to water quality change,
