Dual SIM cell phones

Looking for Dual SIM cell phones. I'd prefer a Samsung device which limits options. I understand that Samsung phones in Canada with the exception of the latest and greatest S21 units are single SIM. So I am looking for an older model. Whereabouts would be the best place the get such a device?

You'll probably have to get it from place like ebay or some other online store like B&H if you want a dual sim version. B&H does ship to canada. There are also scattered listing of dual sim samsungs on amazon, likely imports from outside canada.

They are not. Carriers have disabled the eSIM on the Canadian S21 phones.

Google, Apple, Oneplus, and (if you can find them in Canada) Asus are the main brands that offer dual SIM compatibility in some way (eSIM or physical).

check kijiji. i bought my brand new A52 dual sim 4G in april for $400 cash via a kijiji listing, when ends up being a store at greektown (danforth), which offered a 7day exchange if there were issues.

been using it as my daily driver since. no issues with the phone, brand new sealed. have had 2 security updates since (latest security patch is july 1, 2021).

i believe it's the mexican/carribean variant model (default language during setup is spanish/portuguese). that being said, no latin american bloatware at all (but you are still stuck with samsung/google/netflix bloatware).

Wha??? I did not know that carriers disabled the eSim in the S21. But if you purchased it from the Samsung store it should be fine no?

A71 is dual sim but if bought outside Canada. You can try Pmall or an independent cell store that import those from overseas or Amazon see if they sell international dual sim phones

No. The one sold by Samsung directly is the same model and would thus have the same firmware as the carrier models.

Why they disabling features on a phone, which you are paying for?

Does an American model have the eSim enabled? Does a eSim slot take a regular sim card, or is an eSim totally differerent?

eSIM is an electronic SIM card. Not a physical SIM. As for why carriers request it disabled, it’s to make it easier for most people to just use their carrier’s service when roaming. Apple and Google are more strict than Samsung in making sure carriers take a “hands-off” approach to phone customization.

It also appears the US version might not support eSIM either.

I believe only two Samsung phones sold in the US have eSIM: T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note20 & Note20 Ultra.

T-Mobile eSIM Support
‘Q: What smartphones are compatible with eSIM?

A: Currently, iPhone XS and newer models, Pixel 3 and newer models, Samsung Galaxy Note20 & Note20 Ultra, and Motorola Razr 5G are compatible with the T-Mobile eSIM solution.’
TELUS: Unlimited 25 $37.50/25GB x 2 (50 GB pooled data)
AT&T Prepaid Unlimited MAX: Unlimited talk & text in and between the U.S., Canada, & Mexico, ?? GB data
