Thanks. Do you have to keep the account open for a specific amount of time?

I assume there is no credit checks for opening up a savings account?

You have to keep the account open for 90 days to avoid the $25 early account closure fee.

I think it's only a soft check.

It's insured up to 100k through Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario. I don't know if they have a maximum.

It's a hard check, was on phone with a service agent. But such checks only count for 10% of equifax credit score. Any one aware of free equifax membership / check? I'd be curious to see how opening new accounts/credit affects ones score?

Keeping the account for 90 days is a non issue, as long as the money can be pulled out of it.

If you already have a Earn More Savings account, you have to call them to open another account with the promo rate.

Too bad it's a hard check, otherwise I would've signed up. Need to keep my hit rate low due to mortgage sign up soon.

Aren't bank/credit signups only account for 10% of you credit score?

BTW: If you sign up in branch you can get everything done, that same day.
