Duplicate prescription (for non-controlled substances) in Quebec
I have a prescription for two non-controlled substances (estradiol and Androcur) at a Familiprix. I have a paper prescription for those exact two medications in my possession. If I bring that prescription into a Pharmaprix to get it filled, will it be refused because a duplicate is held by another pharmacy? I am asking because I had a prescription for diazepam (controlled substance) refused because an identical prescription was held by another pharmacy. Maybe it's different for non-controlled substances? As for my reason for double pharmacying, it's that I really hate dealing with this particular Familiprix and they won't even allow my prescriptions to be transferred elsewhere. I actually had to get my MDs to write me duplicate prescriptions. As for the diazepam, I actually had to have my MD call the pharmacy to convince them to transfer the script. Will the same thing happen when I bring my script for estradiol and Androcur into Pharmaprix? That script was written by an endocrinologist and he is a lot harder to get ahold of (it would take months).
