There's literally multiple games on this list that have sold for $50 or $55 BNIB multiple times. This is insane.

They sent out a survey to complete about a week ago and this (and the fact they've run an EDGE Double Discount promo two straight weeks) leads me to believe they're actually listening to it.

Nice! I have a game or two I can trade in. But damn, no Luigi's Mansion on the list.

They also had a massive cash infusion due to the Gamestop short squeeze. The parent company can finally afford to do things.

You can sell any of these games on marketplace for $60 anytime. I just sold BOTW for $60 the other week, took about 15 minutes.

Bummer. I would have traded botw and immediately bought the digital copy a few weeks ago when it was on for $55

Trading for $60 might be more lucrative because you can actually make it worth about $68 if you use it towards a new purchase.

Pretty hot if you're unloading a Switch. $280 TIV for console + $60 for each of those games means you could get $400 pretty easily. Way more than Kijiji or FB here (especially for those like me with an older Switch but not old enough to mod).

Exactly.

Plus, you don’t have to deal with low-ballers, etc. I had my copy of Mario Golf up for sale last week, asking $70, and I had several people offer me $50.

What does that mean? If you use the credit they give you, you don't need pay taxes?

If you put it towards a purchase or pre-order, EB treats it as a credit and applies it before applying taxes. This doesn't work if you put it on an edge/gift card though.

(note my replay is based on 2019 since i havent traded a game since covid lol)

Anyways in the past, if you buy something at the same time as trading something in, EB will actually reduce the total off the subtotal (before taxes). That means you save the tax as well when doing the trade in. Of course this has to be done on the spot. Before that, they used to give edge cards for trade in. Those are different than gift cards and again would reduce the subtotal (pre tax) instead of the total. Obviously that practice has stopped and gamestop was fined for doing it (cheating taxes) but the trade in on the spot was still being done in 2019 (and i assume its still being done now since i havent heard otherwise).

This is not quite correct. You can put the credit towards a pre-order. Later on, you can cancel the pre-order and it'll still let you use it towards another purchase without paying taxes.

And considering that unlike Sony and MS, Nintendo basically never puts their games on sale even on eshop. So that makes even less sense and less incentive to buy Nintendo games digital.

I just traded in two of these games for $40 each! Huge bummer.
