Just to clear some misconception out. The Preferred Price card used to work with the gift card. It does NOT show on the recipe, but if you do your own math. You should find the discounted money (The part you saved) being put back into the gift card AFTER you finished fueling.

What this means is if you uses up the whole gift card, you end up having a few cents to a couple of bucks on the gift card. Since pump doesn't allow gift card with less than a liter (I think) of amount to fuel, it will fail authentication even though there are still balance left on it.

At least that is what I found to be happening in BC a couple of months ago. If something new came up where they came up with new issue, I don't know.

That's weird. It works fine here in Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Regina, & Prince Albert).
Machine or inside, neither worked. They said they already knew the issue, not sure if they are gonna fix it.

The "Preferred Price Card" could not work with gift card together, confirmed by multiple PC stations in Ottawa. Unless they "fixed" the "issue" because it was working in July when I bought the $0.05 saving card.
Let me shed some light on this from my experiences

I've found that if you pump your gas first, then go inside to pay, you can indeed use both the 0.05/litre card and the gift card to pay the balance off. However, if you are prepaying (i.e. when it's past midnight and I have to go pay first) the till only accepts one type of "gift card" tender at a time, so when they scan the 0.05 card the gift card is rejected.

Hope this helps.

As far as the deal, it's lame, remember the good old days of 200$ for 180$ + 30$ preferred price card?!? but better than nothing. Will be getting one I guess.

I have used 5 cents off card here in MB with no issues.
But agree that this is not a hot deal anymore.

I usually run the gift card until it has <$10, and just use that without the Preferred Price card to burn off the rest of the balance (so I am paying $0.05/0.03 more per Liter, for like 6 Litres given the current gas price) to avoid having to go inside.
What I did last time was to wait until both gift cards were under $2 or so. Go in, prepay for $50, use both gift cards and credit card.
