Looks like a hot deal! Not a fan of emmc storage and soldered ram, but you can't have it all.
  • 3:2 monitors are rare and nice for tablet usage.
  • IPS. High resolution. Good brightness (400nits).
  • Black keyboard (backlighting should actually help to see keys).
  • Bilingual keyboard (I'm in QC and I refuse to get a keyboard without accented characters).
  • Gorilla glass monitor and touchpad.
FYI, if you don't plan to use Play Store, go to setting and disable Play Store to take back between 2 and 3GB of RAM back ;)

Could boot other OS (see Reddit Chultrabook and Coolstar website) if you want. I'm planning on dual booting Windows 11 and Brunch :)

---------

I'm interested what others think, but it seems pricey to me for a eMMC machine.

It's the other specs that makes it a really good deal.

FYI, I installed W11 on ASUS C433 (eMMC too) and it was fast. On ChromeOS, it's not a problem.

IMO I'd prefer a proper SSD, but I prefer them to cut on SSD speed than screen quality.

I have the Spin 713 CB (in fact, it is the device I am using right now, and it is my default non-work laptop that I use for everything from web browsing to replying email to watching Netflix). It is a really good device and as long as you have the right expectation for CHromebooks, this is as good a deal as you'll find.

The screen is beautiful and bright, the CB is pretty powerful so everything runs smooth, the battery life is great.

I bought mine for $470 and I'd buy it again if it breaks.

- Better screen then a lot of laptops, chrome or windows. 3:2 2k screen that gets pretty bright.
- eMMc isn't the greatest for speed or endurance but ChromeOS doesn't write to storage very often (unless you are using it primarily for linux apps) - I'd look elsewhere if you are trying to convert to windows.
- Personally loved the trackpad. Glass and very very smooth.
- Build quality is ok. Has an issue where the rubber feet fall off the laptop. Those older off-lease business laptops that have been posted lately on here (Lenovo Thinkpads/Dell Latitudes) have better build quality.
- ChromeOS with this CPU/RAM config will fly. Performance should be great up until the EOL date.
- It's been $399 for half a year now, price just dropped (on the other hand it's half a year older)

I returned mine (battery was lower than advertised life) but I liked it when I had it.

I've seen the screen on this and its great. Plus the fact that it has more vertical space makes it so much better for productivity stuff. You don't need to zoom out as much to see a full page. As a chromebook this is great.

However, if you want to install Windows10/11 on it, keep in mind that it isn't as simple as just making a USB stick with the Windows ISO on it and installing. You need to replace the original BIOS/Firmware with a custom one. When doing the install, you need to use a mouse because the trackpad won't work until you install the custom drivers.

I've done the whole thing before, it wasn't hard, but it also wasn't easy. I still use my Acer C740 Chromebook with win10 every single day and its fast because of the SSD, but the conversion isn't for everyone.

I've been eye'ing on the 713 over the years, this is the perfect price point for a really good 3:2 Chromebook. Almost clicked the button until I saw "Bilingual backlit keyboard"......I did the same thing last time on another laptop and thought it wouldn't bother me, but it did enough that I ended up selling it.

This was a similar deal about 9 months ago - https://forums.redflagdeals.com/ebay-ca ... s-2545483/

Have this.....bought this with all the bells and whistles from tsc about 300 on sale last year. Love the brightness of the screen n the touchscreen. Love it! Still going strong for browsing netflix and the basic. It's just perfect.

I did a lot of chromebook research like a month ago so to save you all time, this is considered one of the best ones out on the med/high end side.

Couple questions for those chromebook expert. How's rdp client? I can't use the google one and have a "point" installed in the office WinPC, does the MS RDP app support dual monitor? Can I install ad blocker on browser?

I don't think anyone's a fan of soldered RAM. It's an added production expense to cripple your products, so whoever came up with this evil failure mode should get a lot of health insurance.

That's what I'm doing (shipping is at seller's cost). I contact them to try to cancel it though.
