[eBay.ca] Apple MacBook Pro 15" MR942LL/A $3179

If you're looking for a new 15" MacBook Pro this is a hot deal.
This is the upgraded model with 6-core 2.6Ghz i7-8850H processor with 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Radeon 560X.
It sells for $3699 on Apple and comes with a 1-year warranty.
I got one from them, and didn't have any problems. They also have different new laptops with good prices.
From my perspective, you're getting free AppleCare.
There is also 1% cashback from eBates, which is another $32 off. (That's a free dongle!) They only charge GST in QC.
Laptop: Gigabyte A5 X1 R9-5900HX/RTX3070/64GB
Desktop: i9-12900K/RTX3080/64GB

As a current 2018 15" MBPt owner, I can't really recommend this laptop unless you're locked into the Apple ecosystem (e.g. your workflow depends on it).

They still didn't fix the keyboard issue (where a crumb could mess up your keyboard and require a $1000+ fix), and the laptop is just insanely expensive for what you're getting (Macs were always expensive, but this new touchbar iteration is just next level).

But still gave OP upvote, because if you must have the Macbook Pro for whatever reason, then this is a good price.

Tell me about it!

(I suppose Apple doesn't expect people to ever eat around their computer....)
Why can't we all just get along?

This. I absolutely need a Mac for work, so I got one.
My keyboard had the same problem and Apple replaced the bottom case (it's been less than a month since I got it)

I do eat around my computer, but I never eat above the keyboard, but even the dust seems just to do it.

It really amazes me that a machine for this price still only comes with 16GB of memory, and can't handle any sort of accidents (drops or spills).

Hell, the business Thinkpad line has drainage holes in case you accidentally spill liquids on it. And it doesn't cost $1000 to replace the keyboard to fix a single broken key!

You're saying you bought a $3000 + laptop that needed a repair in less than a month?

Count me in!

It happens. I got it back pretty much the same day.
But yeah, it needed a repair in less than a month. Here's the thing, it already paid itself off, I sold my old MacBook Pro to get this one, and I need one to make $$$.
I could switch back to Windows (I already own Windows devices) but it'll cost me more than the difference between a similar Windows laptop and this MacBook.

I have been waiting to replace my MBPr for 6 years, and Apple has not given me a good enough reason to do it. These new computers all suck. The ecosystem is great, and I will certainly shell out as much as they are asking for there rediculouly overpriced products, but they need to get their stuff together.

Still using my 2012 Macbook Pro that I upgraded with a SSD. Works fine for now. When it bites the dust, I'm not sure I will get one of the new ones.

That’s a descent price. I got one back in September and it’s great.

I have the 2016 15" MacBook pro touch I got in 2017 and it's amazing.

I always get mine from Staples because they let me stack coupons.

Posted my receipt in the Staples megathread, I stacked the 10% student discount with a Staples coupons, got the laptop for around $550 less than the sale price.

Did the same for my MacBook air in 2013.

I don't see myself needing a new laptop until probably 2025, since this handles all my work just fine and it's still as fast as day 1.
