5800x or 3900x? I know Canada doesn't have any stock atm but if I can get 5800x from oversea for the same price, which one should I pick?

5800x based on benchmarks I found is faster.

FYI, amazon has it for $609 and can combine with UGO $100 for $110 which will come out around $553 before tax, however wait time is 1-2 months.

There is a new third party vendor selling for $600+$9 shipping but no TAX. Stack with UGO offer and the real price before the 12% tax is $493. Currently showing only 1 left in stock.

Amazon also have open box for $567, which comes out $515 before tax after UGO offer.

You want game, 5800X. You want productivity, 3900X. That simple.

I have this CPU, running 3 VMs in the background + playing street fighter 5 + youtube playing = 20% CPU load.

If Cinebench scores matter to you then this is a good choice.
I workout to get big so I can pickup bricks and ****.

Get the 3900x if you want more cores but don't want to pay the price of the 5900x. Get the 5900x if you need more cores and want the Zen 3 IPC improvement. Get the 5600x if all you care about is gaming.
The 5800x isn't really a good buy. The gaming performance isn't worth the price over the 5600x, and if you need more cores, you get much more value from the 5900x. That's why the 5800x is the easiest Zen 3 to get your hands on right now. If you want value at an 8-core count, you're gonna have to wait for the 5700x, which AMD will probably wait until after the supply issues ease up before releasing. Honestly, they're making so much money right now with the 5800x because people can't get their hands on either the 5600x or the 5900x.

Here in Ottawa, their are regular stock of 5800x, got mine for 711$ tax in just last week. At moment of writting, their Halifax store has 5+. Like everyone said, depends on your use, myself I would've gotten the 5900x, but stock won't be available till mid january. Worst case scenario, buy the 3900x and flip it for the cpu you want when its avaible.

If you play games at 1440+ get the 3900x otherwise 5800x is better

Correction, you want game - 5600X, 5800X gives you no real gains.

I think he meant at the current stock levels, better value for gaming is 5600x if you can find one

right, I wouldn't chase 5000 CPUs and 6000 GPUs just yet, the scalpers are picking them up for crazy profits. I have 3900x with gtx 1080 and it gets the job done just fine in mild gaming, even CyberPunk 2077 on High @ 1440p runs well.
