Stuff like this that makes me wish I didn't have a Sony A6000... I do love the lens I have, but its more my all purpose travel lens, but not god-tier in anything. I think its 18-135, so like pretty good as an all-purpose take 1 lens option, especially since its a lot smaller than most the other variable zoom options. But would be nice to have something this tiny.

$20 to ship from their website, at least for me. Makes ordering from the site itself not worth it.
Can you spare some cutter, me brother?

Difficult focal length to work with on crop. No wide enough for indoor group photos, not fast or long enough for portraits. It's an okay walk-around lens on full frame just because of the small size.

For crop I'd pick up 24mm and 50mm, but the 24mm never goes on sale like the 40mm. For full frame I'd just stick to 50mm.

Of course this is just my opinion from my experience as a hobbyist, any lens/camera can be amazing in the right hands.

Good lens, nice price, but the 50mm f1.8 STM is better (optically and also faster aperture) so that should be your first buy. It's a similar price.

I have the 40mm f2.8 but I don't use it that much, it's a good lens for what it is though. It's too tight for most video unfortunately.

The small pancake thing is nice but you're still carrying around a bulky DSLR body so the size savings aren't much.

Sony actually has the widest lens selection for mirrorless systems. For very compact lenses, they make the 20mm pancake lens, the 16-50mm power zoom, and several more.

If pocketable size is what you want, I recommend using a point and shoot. There are some p&s cameras that perform very well like the RX100 series and the ZV-1.

Well said. I have all three. But sold the 40mm cuz I have a crop frame. 24mm and 50mm make good walk around lens.

Thank you so much! I picked one up that was an open box without the original box and the manager was nice enough to knock it down another 20% off.
Deal of the year for me. Good solid travel lens for my film Canon.

Are you looking for just a prime lens, at 40mm, that is tiny like the canon lens, but for Sony? There are some out there.
24mm, which is 36mm on Sony A6000: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... _lens.html
20mm, which is 30mm on Sony A6000: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... mount.html
16-50 Sony lens, not the best, but it is compact: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... i-ps&pim=Y

I just randomly picked bhphoto for my links....not suggesting you buy from there.
EDIT: Just realized someone basically already posted what I just did.

The OP didn't state "free shipping", and I suspect it was indeed $99 on the 18'th when this was posted?
Koodo 8GB UL T&T @ $45 (ported in from Public Mobile)
