Ecobee Eco+ - Any thoughts?

https://www.ecobee.com/en-ca/eco-plus/

I just noticed this today on my Ecobee app. It was time to turn on the AC and I noticed this was already automatically enabled on my Ecobee 3 Lite. Those of you who got this thing installed for free a while back probably all have this running now. I don't even know how long this update has been installed for. The only thing it didn't automatically enable was the Time of Use option. When I tried it, it asked for the utility company and then it allowed me to enable.

Any thoughts on this feature?

Hmm, don't see anything on my free ecobee. I wonder if it's because TOU has been disabled for lockdown here, or maybe because it hasn't been warm enough to activate my AC.

My unit is just the Ecobee 3 Lite as well. It's the same one a bunch of us got installed for free a while ago.

Firmware version on mine is 4.5.81.200

On the Ecobee unit itself, if you click the main menu, it should be the second option "Eco+".

I have the regular ecobee 3, have had eco+ on it for about a year. I turned off eco mode since the pandemic as TOU went away and I'm always home now. During regular times, the savings were minimal... It even says 3 or 4% savings with the most eco options enabled. I didn't see much of any difference on my bills.

Disabled it completely (initially they didn't let you disable it.)

POS feature, I'd always be "wtf does the house feel colder/warmer than it should" and sure enough every time I'd check the Ecobee and eco+ had "decided" I was OK with an extra 1.0 or 1.5C change from my setting, and I'd have to re-set the temperature to "fake it" so it would turn the heat/ac back on. This is even with all the eco+ settings set to "minimal".

Useless and ineffective and annoying and intrusive and useless and annoying.

Same unit and firmware here....but no Eco+ option. Sounds like I won't miss it anyway, I don't like thermostats changing my setpoints.

How do you disable it, and once disabled does Smart Home/Away continue to work like pre Eco+ ?

There's an option on the device UI itself (not in the web/app) to disable eco+. There are still options for Smart Home/Away but I don't use them because WFH :D

Thanks I just disabled it from the thermostat, I noticed the option for Smart Home/Away cannot be changed from the thermostat it says "apart of Eco+" but the option to enable/disable it from the website still works.
