Elephant Grind Coffee - unethical restaurant owner!

UPDATE: Proof of the metal found in the bottom left corner of the picture! I’m so glad I took this picture!

Please share this review with your foodie friends and on all of your social media platforms!

Small metal piece found in food. Richmond hill cafe owner shouted at customer “get out”! This behaviour is intolerable!

This group won't grumble about your experience unless you gave them some story about the restaurant refusing to accept your AMEX card....

The restaurant charges everything upfront including food and service charges (tips) before sitting down.

The restaurant owner responded very unprofessionally when we brought to his attention the issue of a small metal piece found in the food. We demanded for a refund but the owner refused to talk or listen and harshly shouted at my husband to “get out” pointing the restaurant door! It was extremely disrespectful!

Thank you op. I have never heard of this place so I will visit it.
A life spent making mistakes is not only more memorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

The business has been reported to both York Health Inspection and Toronto Public Health. If anyone thinks this is a joke, you can go experience it.

So do all the big cafes. Do you go to Starbucks and pay after you drink and eat?

He said he didn't capture a picture because he trusted the waitress or something like that.

Jesus Christ, talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. The Ministry of Health? Really? Get a grip. You survived, you were never in danger, and in the grand scheme of things, this was a non-event. Grow the hell up and move on; you sound like an overly dramatic fool.

Thank you everyone for your heartless comments! You have all made it possible to promote an unethical business! Clapping Hands Sign

If anyone ever gets sincerely hurt in the future, remember you are all part of it!

My family will definitely move on. I will leave the drama for future ignorant consumers. As for the business itself, only time will tell the truth.

While the business should have given you something for free for the aggravation, it is not required to. How does comping one breakfast going to make anyone forget that there was a piece of metal in the food? It doesn't. You still would have given then a poor review on the website. They were rude because they correctly read that you would never come back and would bad mouth them regardless of this mistake.

I did read another reviewer saying they found a piece of hair in their food. But no metal. Im guessing this is a one time thing. Not enough to ruin a business over. You had your fun buy dinging them on a review site - that is payback enough. Why you even stayed for more food after this happened is something you should be asking yourself.

If it's located in Richmond Hill why would you "also" report them to Toronto Public Health? I'd thought it would be out if their jurisdiction.

We stayed behind because my young daughter wanted to have pancakes and it was too much hassle to go to another place for another meal. We have enough trouble settling down with a baby and toddler.

I don’t write negative reviews just because the food and services are bad.

The fact that the owner never apologized for the unknown piece of metal, insulted my husband by shouting “get out” and intentionally taking our plates away (with half plate of food in it) are just unacceptable! We left the restaurant without finishing the food!

My family only demands an apology from the owner due to the way he treated us. Obviously he was too busy to respond. Writing this review is my right to let the public knows about my bad experience and hope no more people falls in this situation. I don’t need empathy or approval from public. If you choose to not believe it, that is your choice.

Correct. Only York Health inspection. Dinesafe is for Toronto. I only realize it shortly after a friend told me.

stay at home and make pancakes instead of buying your toddler $15 pancakes. Its more fun and you dont have to worry about settling them down. I'm sure you are justified to have this reaction to the situation, but I am sure there was more of a demand to get something for free to get a over-reaction like that from the owner.
