Not the lowest price, but it's Emirates, direct, and on their A380.

Good time to visit, weather is more tolerable.

Halifax
While trawling the internet, I noticed an news clip of John Tavolta at Dallas Fort Worth airport on a Quantas A380 coming from Sydney. i discovered I would have to get on some crappy flights to get to DFW from Halifax, so I was wondering what A380 flights go to Sydney headed east. Low and behold, Emirates leaves JFK airport in New York with an A380 headed for Dubai, 2 hour layover in Dubai, and then on another A380 going to Sydney. Cost was $1080. Strangely, cost just going to Dubai from JFK was $1005.

Cost to get to Sydney either going east or west is roughly the same, give or take $100 or so. Time to get to Sydney from either direction is about the same also, give or take a couple of hours.

I was trying to figure out the cost of going to Sydney from Toronto via Emirates, but it is about $2000, and the flight to Sydney from Dubai has a stop over at Bangkok, and an 11 hour layover.

In any case, no big deal to me. It is quicker to get to New York from Halifax than to Toronto.

EK has JFK-DXB nonstop, or JFK-MXP-DXB which is usually much cheaper due to competition?
I see there's a 2-person deal where JFK-MXP on EK is only $500 USD/person, which is quite cheap

Once you get to DXB, look for the Arab guy hologram, its pretty funny and gets annoying pretty quickly.

Is it cheaper to fly to DXB on certain days of the week from YYZ? I wouldn't want to fly on the 380 - operated by Emirates right?

Not on an A380, but from late October to early December, you can depart Toronto to Dubai with British Airways for $785 return. One stopover in Heathrow.

You can see the dates available through Google Flight Explorer.
