Empty toilet bowl after 1 month none use?

In one of our new builds, 2 toilets on second floor are empty of water in the bowl after 1 month of no use. But the tank has water. Is this normal? The main floor powder room hasn’t been used for the same amount of time. But it is normal.

Same thing happens in my 2nd washroom. I usually just flush it once every few weeks.

when the pipes drain, they pull a tiny bit of suction this can be enough over time to slowly pull water out of your bowl, which if you think about it, is kind of acting like a trap

Tank is covered. So less evaporation. Perfectly normal.

Tank also has a float that will automatically ensure it stays full, while the bowl requires the flapper between the bowl and the tank to be opened manually (assuming it’s operating as intended)

Once the bowl has refilled after flushing, you can remove the tank from the bowl and place it in another room, and the water level will not drop in the bowl. The "fill valve" and the "flush valve" which are both within the tank have nothing to do with keeping the water level in the bowl.

The ceramic toilet bowl is not much different than a dogs ceramic water bowl. The water will not drop in level unless
  • The bowl is cracked
  • The water evaporates
  • The dog drinks from it.

If you don't see signs of a leak around the bowl, or on the ceiling of the floor below, then you can probably rule out a cracked bowl.

Keeping the seat down will slow evaporation, and stop the dog from drinking the water.

I doubt that much water can vanish in one month. OP when there is a windy day be sure the bowl is full and watch to see if the water swishes about . It should and that will indicate that the vent going through your roof is clear, at least then you are aware.

Also check the upstairs toilet after you have flushed a down stairs loo to see if it has been sucked out by a vacuum in the system.

Just a thought.
