Ending Rental/Tenancy Agreement Mid-Month

Hi All

I stay in BC and am on a month-to-month tenancy agreement. I am required to give the landlord 1 full month's notice to end the agreement. However, my question is whether it is within my right to end the tenancy mid-month, provided I am still giving the landlord at least a full months notice?

For example, lease is month-to-month with rent due on the 1st of each month. I give notice on 30 April 2022 that I want to end the tenancy on 15 Jun 2022 (i.e. more than the required full month's notice). Is the landlord within their right to collect the full month's rent for June 2022, or am I within my right to expect the rent for June 2022 to be prorated (half month's rent)?

We have already mutually agreed that if the landlord can find a new tenant mid-month, he will prorate my rent (nice landlord), but if not, then I am expected to pay the for the full month. Let's forget about that for now, since my question is rather about what would be correct according to the law.
