In before "not worth it even on sale"

(I'm going to wait for the price to come way down before considering BF2042)
Deal with it.

As a BF newbie looking to try the franchise, the appalling number of gamer and review site reviews about this one being terrible compared to older titles put me off.

I think I’ll just try an older title first now.

Game is gunna to drop $10 in price a month, wait it out if you actually want the game.

That being said, this game is trash and isn't battlefield.

Halo Infinite is made for little kids. Doom Eternal is the best shooter ever made. It gets harder and harder and your skill level has to increase too. COD Vangaurd is pretty awesome.

It's important to mention that all the reviews say that the game is trash because of the number of bugs in it and that was the case for all the other releases, but that they eventually end up fixing the bugs post release. I honestly really feel bad for anyone who preorder any battlefield franchise title because they only become playable after 6 months post release when the price has dropped.

Wait, people actually buy games on Epic? I thought it was just the place to redeem free games and never play them?

It's very playable, portal is probably the best feature they've ever implemented. But in terms of features and polish, it feels like a step backwards from everything they could have taken from the previous titles.

There is/was a 10 hour trial of the game on Xbox game pass. Having spent over a hundred hours in both Battlefield 1 and 5 I was excited to try the new 2042.
Uninstalled it after an hour or so: bad rubber banding, shots not registering, no server browser, no scoreboard, directional sound is broken (can't tell where enemies/shots are coming from), moronic specialist system, etc etc. What a disappointment.

Feel the same. I was so excited for this game and fave it a solid try. The beta was a total joke and the 10 hour trial was mildly improved but, like most BF games, they use the early adopters as their test subjects to work out the numerous bugs. This generally takes 4-6 months. At that point this game should be $25.

Try it again since they fixed a few things. Audio is a lot better now since the patch yesterday, rubber banding is better (though there's still micro stutters in All-Out-War but it's not in Rush), etc. Still several bugs though

Specialists isn't too bad and had my doubts at the during the beta and at launch but warmed up to them since they provide other gameplay variety

But yeah, I want the traditional scoreboard back and the server browser. The maps are the biggest issue for me but even kinda getting used to it. Wish it had more dense maps.

This is what I want too. Scoreboard and more cover in maps and server browser and voice chat. This is basic stuff. They also need to fix world destruction physics. Seen doors floating in the air but you can still open and close them despite nothing surrounding them. Simple things that they had in BF4 but they started anew and have a shit ton of glitches to work out.

I bought BFV for like $35 when they put it on sale after 4 months, and I have over 800 hrs in that game. I will definitely buy BF2042 when it drops to around $40.

Im having a lot of fun with the game and play it everyday but yeah, definitely not GOTY lol.

It's definitely not as bad as some vocal people would make you think making it sound like the game is some sort of hell spawn.

I fully agree it's not atrocious. It has great elements. But it's definitely lacking and a long way from being a "good" (above 6/10 rating) Battlefield game. More maps, better maps, scoreboard, more weapons...it'll get there. Then I'll buy it.

I usually hate world war era cod but this one at least multiplayer has been impressive

If you want the game, this is an ok deal. I'm tempted. If you're only just getting into Battlefield games, I suggest playing BF4 or BFV first. They are well polished so you don't have to worry about bugs and they're older so go on sale frequently.

I played a few hours of 2042 because of EA Play free trial and besides one crash to desktop, the game plays similar to previous games. There are some changes with classes and weapons but the game play is overall similar.
