Great price. Would probably have bought it if it had any kind of audio out.

It has a built in speaker, but, you don't need it to have an audio out if you use any kind of receiver for HD audio decoding, just connect it as the monitor output of the receiver, let the receiver do all the audio work.

I got the Epson 2100 for 519 from the refurb store a few days ago so if you can wait till another pops up, that would be a way better deal IMO
Maybe I can build a house with all the boxes from stuff I've bought off RFD

From what I've read in general Chinese ones around $150 are dim in comparison and must be used pretty much in the darkest room possible to be have an acceptable image. You'll get so so contrast , ok colours at best and also a smaller screen at the same distance vs epson. Some are ok with this but when you compare to a Epson there's quite a big difference.

Chinese ones are cheapers...not the same quality of image and never as bright...but they have a big advantage...you will never have to change the bulb...they also produce less heat and consume less power

I'm not an audiophile but the reviews I read about the 1040 speakers are pretty bad. Has anyone used an audio extractor withe the epson projector? does it work well.

Alternately if you're using a streaming box (amazon fire or roku then bluetooth speakers might be an option.

I was looking at the Epson 2100 as it has better built in speakers (10 W) and audio out so you can hook up external speakers but it's out of stock. Does Epson restock often? the 1040 does have more lumens but the contrast is a lot better on the 2100. How do you like the 2100?

Having bought a Chinese one off Amazon and than buying an Epson, I can tell you text is crisp on the Epson. It was out of focus on the Amazon one where focus adjustment was limited.
If you watch anything with subtitles your eyes will be sore.

Not as good picture quality as the 2100 though. The 1060 is originally a business projector turned into a home cinema model with a few tweaks by Epson. 1060 retails for 549-649. 2100 retails for 1000$

Chinese ones have inflated lumens and poor focus, not to mention lots of coupon codes and shill reviews to make them out to be better than they are. If you have the cash buy an Epson.

Even if you don't have extra cash, save up for an Epson. 4 years I have owned one and loved every minute of it. Cheap Chinese ones you will have buyer's regret like me.
