Refurbished 720P projector, 3300 lumens, dynamic 15000:1 contrast ratio, 6000hrs lamp life, $80 replacement lamp. Interestingly, there's a 2yr limited warranty on this certified refurbished item.
I'm personally waiting for a 1080p, but combined with a surround speaker system this is not bad for a simple setup for the kids or a family movie night.

A new one is on sale in Staples for $475 until Jul-28 BTW, but if I was buying it I would probably still get the refurb.

Should be no problem with the 3300 lumens for outdoor use.

The refurb 2100 just went OOS couple of days ago was a much better purchase at $100 more (native 1080p, better contrast, 3D, lens shift, CFI and low response time).

If you are not in an immediate need just keep an eye on the outlet, they restock regularly, take the OP's own advice, and wait for a better deal!

And yes, these light canons will work mighty fine for outdoors movie nights.

No aux out on this one, so if you want more than the included speakers you need a receiver or a hdmi audio pass through adapter.

It will do very well outdoors, 3300 lumens you can use it during sunset too and have great picture. Use a Fire Stick TV or Android Box via Bluetooth to connect to an external audio source.

if you where mainly using for HiDef movies like blurays or downloaded movies I'd go with a 1080P one but I think anyone would be happy with this one too

I don't mind the extra 100 but that one is only 2500 lumen and if we are primarily using outdoors wouldn't that part be worse? Thanks.

After dark, sure. Won't compete with daylight, though. Just note that if you're going to be going on the higher end of the size range (200"+ screen) then 720p is going to be pretty grainy if you're using a screen. If you're projecting on the side of a building or something like that, though, resolution won't matter much, clarity won't be in the cards in either case, at that point you just want it to be big and bright.
