Just talked to them ... CSR told me she is pretty sure they would give it to you on Feb 28, 2017, if that was the case, and your birthday was Feb 29th ...Darkman wrote: ↑I just called them again ... on hold again ... just to find out what will happen to the person whose birthday is on Feb 29th ( this year February has 29 days by the way ), and who were to open / activate EQ bank account on March 1, 2016 or after, lol .....
Would $25 be deposited on the next Feb. 29th (whenever that might be), on Feb. 28th, 2017 (considering Feb. 29th is not every year) ... or not at all ...
Forgot to ask about this in my previous phone call ... and wondering how long I will be on hold this time ... haha.
2 hours 15+ min. so far ... and counting

I was told it's every year. Will confirm.
EDIT: Looks like it should be every birthday: eq-bank-online-bank-3-everyday-interest ... st24973325
Anyway, you need to relax on posting consecutive posts.

Anyone having issues opening January account statement in Firefox? I can open in chrome just fine but it won't even open the pdf in Firefox (and its not related to pop up blocking.. I've tried that)

Combined with Zag, which also excludes 1/4 of Canadians, lean times for HISAs in la belle province.

My Birthday happened after I opened the account and deposited the cheque but before the cheque cleared. I wonder what that means...

"Shouda coulda woulda" ..... --- I called ... and spoke to CSR ... and she assured me it was one time dealangel_wing0 wrote: ↑I was told it's every year. Will confirm.

So obviously one of those two CSRs is wrong, bottom line ...
Of course I hope it's every year ... but all logical thinking tells me otherwise ... especially after "my" CSR assured me of that ...
One can call and double / triple / quadruple check this, of course
BTW, I am on hold with them now ... I predict it will be a long wait (lol) ... so I might as well ask again about "birthday surprise" (one time deal vs every year).
I am on hold with them ... cuz I noticed $1 cheque to EQ Bank cleared from my Tangerine and PCF accounts ... but when I just logged in my EQ account ... obviously nothing is there ... and no welcome email.
Is that normal with those people?
Those cheques cleared Feb 3, 2016 (yesterday) ... probably gotto be patient simply ... but figured to call them
So gonna check again about "Birthday surprise" .... haha ... -- I am offended a bit you took the word of the other (online chat) CSR over my voice conversation, where I made sure to double / triple ask the same question several times, Nudnik I am)
Just got off the phone with EQ bank ... and was told that it's normal ... that it can take up to 5 business days after the cheques negotiated (?) to activate the account and to get the "welcome email".I am on hold with them ... cuz I noticed $1 cheque to EQ Bank cleared from my Tangerine and PCF accounts ... but when I just logged in my EQ account ... obviously nothing is there ... and no welcome email.

As to Birthday surprise - $25 deposited into one's account ... -- this CSR told me that there is an internal note that this will continue until December 31, 2016 ... and then, basically, they don't know ...
Like her birthday is, she told me, Jan. 20th or something ... and her own account got activated after that date ... and she didn't get the $25.
And she is not sure if she even gets it next Jan. 20th or not.
Bottom line,
I STRONGLY doubt it that $25 gift deposit will be repeated, after it was given to someone one time already ... Mark my words.

I tried searching through the help and even the omnipotent Google, but couldn't find any info on if EQ Bank is usable with mint. Has anyone been able to add it to their profile?

Just noticed they sent me email yesterday:
Your account will be activated 5 business days after we deposit your cheque.
We’ll e-mail you when your account is activated.
The cheques are cleared from other bank(s) I linked to EQ already ...
Wondering what day EQ will start paying me interest from ... -- It should be NOW ... not after 5 business days ... as the cheques are already negotiated ...
Not too impressed if it will be in 5 business days, instead of the day(s) cheques were negotiated / cleared and money left other banks.
Just logged in my account there at EQ ... and see this at the bottom:Your cheque has been processed and you will receive your welcome email in 5 business days.
We truly appreciate your business and we look forward to helping you reach your savings goals.
Sincerely,
EQ Bank

Interest is paid from the deposit date (not date +5). For the initial deposit, this has been confirmed on the High Interest Savings forum (and maybe in the 900+ Hot Deals forum). For subsequent transfers, I have confirmed that interest is paid from the transfer request date.Darkman wrote: ↑Just noticed they sent me email yesterday:

I deposited via app on January 14th when I opened the account. They deposited my cheque on January 25th, my account was activated February 1st, I got the activation email on February 2nd.
Interest was paid starting January 25th, not the 14th, but was paid before my account was activated on the 1st. (the cheque cleared my other financial institution account on January 26th).
I have since deposited another cheque via the app since my account wad activated and it shows as deposited the same day as I did it in the app... So is just the first cheque that has these delays.
Hope that helps
