Dude, it is very easy to criticize without anything useful, that is one of the reasons people stop posting deals here.
Are you treating yourself like a judge? I say your post is just worthless.

To the minimum, at least post why you thinking that way with some facts, so that it can help people improve in the future.

I just don't get why tangerine 2.5% online saving is a deal, EQ 3 year 3.25% GIC is not.

Actually according to their FAQ's:

"What if something comes up and I need to cancel?
Life happens. And we get that. Our GICs are non-redeemable but if it’s within one business day after the effective date of your purchase, you can cancel online."

https://www.eqbank.ca/personal-banking/common-questions

So, it seems like most GICs we can buy, you are stuck.... (unless you cancel within the first business day of buying it)!

Dumb question: I never dealt with EQ bank before. Seems like an online bank. Is it safe? What if the bank goes bankrupt?

Looks like Oaken is keeping up with EQ, or vice-versa, here.

https://www.oaken.com/gic-rates/

Oaken is better for 2 years, but for 3-4-5 they are tied.

EQ's 15 month is worse than their 1 year.. odd. And 27 month is marginally worse than 2 years.

So basically, for less than 3 years, Oaken is better; above that it doesn't matter.

I think their system for purchasing GIC's is down...confirmed by tech chat. Even after being around for a few years, they still seem to have lots of glitches.

I also don't know anything about EQ Bank and did some research. Found this in wiki:
  • ninth largest independent bank,
  • completely online with no branch location,

well Wikipedia is much more reliable than a financial adviser who only thinks about himself.

People must be really stupid to require a financial adviser.

that being said, I rarely put in GIC, as calling tangerine consistent will even up a gic , while my savings account allow me to use funds whenever i need

A financial adviser is making money out of ur money, the only difference is they can just lose all your money, they pretty much have 0 risk.
