European travel SIM from Three UK in Portugal/Europe?

Does anyone have any experience using a SIM from the UK mobile company Three anywhere in Europe? They offer reasonable rates through Amazon.

You can roam in a bunch of countries in Europe at no extra charge on top of the plan fee. You get a UK number which isn’t ideal but could still work.

Gifgaff, vodaphone and others have free roaming when you're around the EU

I have used a UK issued 3 sim card in a number of their included roaming countries before without issue. Worked fine.

Thanks all. I went ahead and purchased it. Will report back in a month on how it worked.

Well right now as a Canadian if you enter the UK it’s a 10 day quarantine with the possibility of a 5 day release.

A few years ago (2018 I believe) I bought a Three UK SIM off of Ebay and used it for a trip throughout Europe. It worked flawlessly for about a week, and then I believe it got blacklisted. I stopped receiving any signal (tried it in 3 different phones), and customer support couldn't do anything for me. There was still credit on it.

I'm not saying this is likely to happen, just throwing my experience out there.

One thing to be aware of with using UK sims in the EU now. Now that they’re not in the EU some carriers are upping their roaming fees for travel in foreign countries. Not all are doing it, but it’s started and likely all will follow suit before too long.

3 UK was offering free roaming in many EU and non-EU countries long before the EU Roaming Mandate came into effect.
