Just throwing this idea out there... An ideal home setup for this laptop would be to have it connected to an external monitor (of your choice) via HDMI (the laptop has HDMI 2.0 and that supports 4K at 60Hz). Use an external keyboard and mouse (of your choice) and this laptop does support Bluetooth 5.0. No need for any dock as the laptop has ports for ethernet RJ-45, USB-A, USB-C. Sitting on your desk with the lid closed you won't have to see how ugly this gaming laptop is. What's with gaming laptops always being so ugly? When you need mobility then just unplug the laptop and take it with you.

Current silicon shortage aside, if you're doing this and *only* expect to use it connected to a monitor, you can just get a separate desktop for cheaper. Maybe not by much, but air flow and stuff is generally better.

But it's 2021 and the bigger challenge is finding a graphics card that isn't 2x it's MSRP.

Generally speaking if you are connecting a laptop to an external monitor you should leave the lid open as it allows for much better airflow in most cases, but yeah it's kind of an ugly laptop. Pretty decent deal though for someone on a strict budget.

I grabbed the 5800H version of this earlier in the year and have been more than happy with it.

As far as using it as a desktop goes... aside from possible overheating issues if you keep the lid closed, the other thing to consider is that mobile 1650s for the most part (this one included) don't do HDR if you plan on connecting it to a 4K TV.

What is the weight? I says "starting at 1.98kg" ?

Also, how is the fan noise? I really don't need a gaming GPU, so I'm looking at good fan control when I am just putzing aroud on the web.

Can you verify that 2x16gb will work? According the the spec's and service manual it only supports 2x8gb. I understand that sometimes a bios will limit the amount of memory. Just looking for a stop-gap for a memory intensive mobile workstation. 2x32gb would be ideal.

Service guide only shows HP branded parts; you can verify support via aftermarket memory sites like Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, etc.

Unless advertised; it's always 60hz.

OP the update is appreciated regardless but you're about a week and half too late. Major discussion below already in Hot Deals. Cheers.

No need. Get it from HP in the link I sent. Follow the directions and you will pay less than the Best Buy deal.
