Expired N95 masks

Can expired N95 be used or the filtering element deteriorated? I found like 3 new masks but expired.

They should be fine to use. Its not the filtering element that expires...The expiry date is for the elastic bands....If those are still okay, then your N95 mask is more than okay.

Most N95 filter elements rely on electrostatic charge to capture small particles. Over time, the charge in the material becomes weaker. The deterioration of the elastic band is only one of several factors.

SARS was over 15 years ago. Most N95 respirators have a shelf life of 5 years.

If you have nothing else, I'd still wear it, but I wouldn't be confident of its performance.

Wear it if you have no better option.
