Expiring westjet travel bank credits - advice?
Hi all,
I'm looking for advice/feedback on how to manage my expiring westjet travel bank credits. A flight in April 2020 was cancelled due to covid, so I was given $460 in credit in my travel bank. Luckily, Westjet extended the deadline for two years, but now I'm at that 2-year mark and still don't feel comfortable travelling. I don't think any friends or family have any trips on the horizon either.
Given that they currently have a Flexible Change/Cancel policies for travel affected by COVID-19 until March 31, I am thinking I could book something now for the fall, cancel it if I still don't feel comfortable flying, and then hope to have the refunded travel bank credits good for another year or so. Any red flags with this plan?
Side note: the total cost will likely be higher than the credit, and I'll pay the difference with westjet dollars.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
