The CRA website says one can get an NOA through a new service called “express NOA” all year round. Does that mean if I file a tax return in early Jan I can get an NOA as early as in Jan? Thanks.

It means that as soon as your return is uploaded from the tax prep program onto the CRA servers, the NOA would be generated. However, it is not possible to file a return as early as January since employers and financial institutions would not have issued their T4s and T5s until at least the end of February and in some cases March. Filing too early in January means you will have unreported income for the year when the tax receipts are later issued and they are not included in the filed return. You would have to requested an adjustment to include that income in the return.
