Failed Drive Clean test (p0520 code), will I be able to renew license plate sticker April 1st?

Failed emissions drive clean test recently and license plate sticker will be expiring soon. Would I be able to renew my license plate sticker on or after April 1st despite the failed emissions test/drive clean test?

Thank you for the help,

Yes, wait until the 1st just don't drive it until you get new stickers. I have a vehicle that needs a sticker next week but I'm just waiting it out. I called Driveclean and confirmed, after the 1st no issues getting new stickers.

Nothing is certain until April 1st.

Interesting. It would make sense that they grandfathered it but let's see.

I called a local shop and they told me April 1st everything is gone. How are you supposed to get a test done if there is no equipment?

As someone who is about to change from QC to ON should i wait until after April 1 to transfer my licence/registration as I have no clue about this drive clean thing.

Doesn't make a difference if your car is in good shape. It's just an OBD11 plug in test (for most cars), no CEL on or emissions issues = pass.

Nope, you're good to go.
The trained E-test technician is not a mechanic and not qualified to inspect your vehicle to verify non conforming mods.

Our renewal form for May says drive clean is not required.

There is supposed to be a heightened on road enforcement from the MTO regarding emissions. I would assume they are after the commercial vehicles mainly but I can see them going after vehicles that are loud. And most of them are licensed mechanics so have full right to pop your hood, order you to a shop, tow the car, etc.

In ON?
Good luck with that!

This 2020 GT500 has 4 exhaust modes and louder than any catless vehicle out there.

Not saying that if you are loud you are in the wrong, I'm just saying that you make yourself an easy target. Of course, what they say they will do and what actually may happen are two different things. I see a lot more smoking 18 wheelers and busses nowadays then I do cars.

Someone in another thread mentioned internal memo went out to MTO employees that inspections will be ramped up or something. Catless peepz prob had it easier before with just a noise ticket or needing a fouler/swapping cats for etest. Now they risk having the car off the road.

I'm looking forward to this since while I have a cat, my ECU is non NA OBD2 compliant. It was a PITA getting an etest done before.

Must be mistaken with Commercial vehicle enforcement.

There's really not much point in running without a cat these days, it's not like they eat up double digit power percentages like they used to.
